Harness Horse Training

Training for our assessments is not essential but is advisable. We have a number of approved travelling trainers that may be available to travel to your facility. The cost for this is £150, based on a day, the equivalent of 10am to 3pm, plus 40p per mile. Please contact us and we will put you in touch with a suitable training provider.

Training is also available at our training centre in Cambridgeshire on a One to One sessions at the training centre would be £300, 10am to 3pm. Alternatively group training days are also available at a cost of £120 per person, based on a group of 6, 9.30am to 4.30pm, please see below for further information.

A day designed as preparation for the new event assessment or the road driving assessment. This is aimed at current heavy or light horse users to brush up on or establish skills to meet assessment requirements of conduct and practices. At the end of the day an indication will be given of any further training required pre assessment.

A Group Training Day​ Itinerary 

Based on a group of 6 people.

9.30am-4.30pm with lunch and hot beverages included.

The day would consist of;

  • Coffee and welcome.

  • Briefing of assessment and purpose.

  • Identification and recognition of harness types for different purposes and its worthiness.

  • Identification and recognition of varying implements and or vehicles, their suitability and worthiness.

  • Assistant/groom suitability.

  • Horse(s) suitability.

  • Environment considerations.

  • Harnessing, advantages and disadvantages of correctly fitting harness.

  • Putting to and the correct procedures.

  • Driving horse to an implement if applicable.

  • Driving horse to a vehicle.
